For anyone who works as an Operations Associate at a financial advisory firm, they know the workload can be demanding. Countless tasks are completed daily, from acquiring new account paperwork, transferring assets, calling custodians, and responding to emails—the list goes on.
So, why not create a tool that simplifies and centralizes all operational information? For those who want to colossally change how to manage operations at your company, pull up a chair.
Our Operations team aims to cultivate a first-class user experience; every day, we are mapping out ways to take our service to the next level. We decided emails, phone calls, informational updates weren’t cutting it for us anymore—it can become monotonous, and candidly, many of our competitors operate in similar ways. We needed to innovate our tactics and stand out from the rest of the industry.
We are cognizant that many of our advisors are digitally savvy, and even more of them turn to social media to connect themselves with new information. It only made sense to integrate our business platform with how advisors absorb information daily; this led to the inception of “Insight by Potomac,” which now broadens our operational capabilities.
Insight by Potomac
“Insight by Potomac” is a straightforward informational feed curated for our financial advisors—all our communications in one place. Think of it as a social community for our advisors, a Facebook page or group without the deliberate discrepancies.
Within our Insight feed are “spaces,” containing pertinent information advisors need from our Operations team; this includes Investor Portal Information, Custodians, How-to Videos, and Advisor Updates.
If an advisor doesn’t use a specific tool that’s not a problem, Insight “spaces” are fully customizable to their preferences.
We are eliminating the tedious task of combing through emails by keeping all our updates in one space. (Don’t worry, we are always available by email for assistance and questions.)
However, this platform was designed to solve the pain points advisors face; as soon as they open Insight, they are given insight into all information Operations.
This space will provide all the updates and information needed regarding our Investor Portal. Here, advisors will also find ongoing detailed demonstrations by our Operations Associates to get an overview of the full experience.
All the important updates and information relating to our custodians that we think advisors should know will be posted to our Custodian’s space. One popular post in this space, focuses on Fidelity vs. TD Ameritrade and what we think advisors should consider before choosing a custodian.
One of the things that we take pride in at Potomac is our ability to communicate through media, especially on video. Many of us learn faster through viewing, engaging, and then replicating, which is why we created a library full of how-to videos for our most frequent requests.
Within our How-to Video space, our Operations team reviews FAQs step-by-step, enabling advisors to follow along.
Soon, this will include our upcoming monthly Tech-Tip videos.
As the company continues to grow, we knew we needed to evolve our communication methods with a centralized information hub. Insight solves this, and our Advisor Updates space will put all the latest updates in the palm of your hand.
What was that new email policy we released again? Find out in Advisor Updates.
Simple Stands Out
Insight by Potomac is a fundamental resource for all an advisor’s operational needs, but it goes beyond Ops. There will be regular updates from our Education team and a new hub for Research by Potomac; not only that, but convenient quick links lead to our Potomac website and Advisor Portal Login.
A day in the life of the Operations team means finding ways to upgrade the advisor experience from four stars to five. We believe it’s what sets us apart from the rest of the industry—we never stop working to earn your business.
It’s not about just bringing advisors through our door; once you’re here, we provide service that can’t be found anywhere else.
